My husband Dan and I both grew up on crop farms in Livingston County. Together we now own and operate Triple H Farms and River Ridge Farms in Piffard NY. Triple H is a crop operation primarily growing corn and soybeans along with vegetables for processing. River Ridge Farms raises and sells direct to consumer Angus Beef in quarters, halves and whole quantities. We love sharing our passion with our two children Rev(4) and Hattie (1) who are already enamoured by farm life.
To say agriculture is an addiction would be an understatement. Once it gets a hold of you, it never lets go. I’ve had the privilege to be surrounded by agriculture my entire life. When I was in college I kept going back and forth about what direction I wanted my career to go, but it always came back to agriculture. I love being able to share my career with my family members and now that we have children it’s such a gift for them to be involved as well. I love the eternal optimism of farming. You put so much faith into things that you can’t control and work diligently to mitigate the risks and control what you can. The cyclical nature always keeps things interesting and makes you appreciate each new season of growth and recovery. I also love the people within our agricultural community, we are lucky to live in such a great area.
Farmers take such pride in what we do. We take care of our land and animals to the very best of our abilities because in turn, they take care of
us. Buzzwords like “factory farming” “GMOS” and “organic” involve so much more than the propaganda companies use to control what consumers buy.
